Has anyone else noticed that the Player's Handbook and Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide each have their own sets of Elvish and Dwarvish alphabets? They don't match up at all!
This hasn't caused me a lot of headaches, but my daughter taught herself one of the alphabets, and was disappointed to see it was inconsistent across the materials published here.
Thoughts? Solutions? Have the publisher's weighed in on this? I wasn't able to find any record of this issue in my (apparently very weak) searches online.
The alphabets found in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide match those from the original Forgotten Realms Campaign Set.
The alphabets found in the Player's Handbook are from some other source (likely another D&D setting or generic fantasy source that I should know, but can't remember off hand) .
Having lots of sources makes for an amazing world to play in. I suppose sometimes the threads of the tapestry get tangled. I'm not sure who (if anyone) takes responsibility for the untangling and reconciliation, but I'm also quite sure that it's not ruining my adventures.
