but do autognomes benefit from healing in the form of the Heal spell or Lay on Hands? What’s throwing me off is how specific the Autognome description is as to which ones affect it, and I’ve read over and over again “specific trumps general”.

You are correct but for things like heal and lay on hands it isn't even a case of specific beats general.
Autognome states "your creator designed you to benefit from several spells that preserve life but that normally don't affect Constructs" you only beneft from "several spells that preserve life" not all of them. Cure wound works becasue of specific beats general in that this (specific) rule beats the general rule that cure wounds does not work on constructs.
Heal and lay on hands do not work on cinstructs and there is nothing in the autognome features that overrule that.
Heal and lay on hands specify they have do not affect constucts so unless there is a spe

I feel like holding "several" to an actual quantity is splitting hairs here, especially since the trait specifies "that normally don't affect Constructs."
The trait cites five specific spells. Those are the several (which, formally, means a number greater than three).
however…
talk to your DM. You might be able to trade one or two of those in order to get the others.
also…
unless the spell or ability or feature specifically states it does not work on constructs, it will work.

If the mending spell is cast on you, you can spend a Hit Die, roll it, and regain a number of hit points equal to the roll plus your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1 hit point).
The healing machine trait creates specific exceptions to only the listed spells. It doesn't apply to all healing spells because that isn't what it says it does.

I’m pretty sure the answer is no,

From the book
If the mending spell is cast on you, you can spend a Hit Die, roll it, and regain a number of hit points equal to the roll plus your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1 hit point).
In addition, your creator designed you to benefit from several spells that preserve life but that normally don’t affect Constructs: cure wounds, healing word, mass cure wounds, mass healing word, and spare the dying.
