Our warlock recently fell down an elevator shaft ontonsome bullets and he had some important stuff in his ring. Was the ring destroyed when he died? And if so, does the "stuff in the ring appears in closest empty space when ring is destroyed" rule apply or are we just sol on getting said stuff
Assuming he was a warlock with a Genie patron, and the ring you mentioned was the vessel granted by his Genie's Wessel feature:
If the items didn't instantly appear upon his death, It seems likely that the ring wasn't destroyed automatically by the fall or the bullets, and you'll need to take some action to recover and destroy the ring yourselves to get his stuff. The only things that are automatically ejected from the vessel upon the Warlock's death are any willing creatures that were brought into the Vessel by the Warlock's 10th level Sanctuary Vessel feature.
Blast it, completely missed that, since it's at the end of the entry. That's kind of ambiguous. "Vanishes" isn't necessarily destroyed, but it probably would have said "Vanishes back to the Patron's warehouse" or something like that if it always went elsewhere.
Thanks for pointing that out. So yeah, if it's just destroyed, the objects _should_ have appeared around the body, and "Vanishes" can support that. But if the Patron or DM doesn't want you to have the items in the Vessel, "Vanishes" is also license to keep them from you.

The vessel "vanishes in a flare of elemental power" if the Warlock dies. That's probably as good as "destroyed".

Thats how i interpreted it.mostly because i really want to keep the stuff lol. Tha ks for the reply
It is a bit vague. I feel like the dm wants us to have the stuff, so he may consider letting us keep it. I guess we will see. Thanks for the reply
