So I was having a discussion with a friend about impeded movement and being moved. My character has land's stride, and we were looking at how it works, and just having some examples, seeing if this spell grasping vine would be effective or not. since its a magical plant and so he'd get advantage IF forced movement is a form of impeded movement.
Its mainly just that it kind of sounds like impeding movement but technically you're not stopping him from moving but making him move unwillingly, and then not get the advantage.
Just kind of curious what it would be using "rules as written", because he's already decided as DM that it wouldn't which i understand and respect of course.
The Land's Stride feature let you move through nonmagical difficult terrain, and pass through nonmagical plants without being slowed by them and without taking damage from them
The spell Grasping Vine is magical so it should still affect a ranger.
They're opposites. Land's Stride makes you better at avoiding being slowed or stopped by plants, whereas Grasping Vine is an outside force pulling you towards it.
Rules as written, Land's Stride would not help you avoid Grasping Vines.

No, Grasping Vine moves you when it is used but it doesn't impede your movements in any way.
