So I noticed in the true polymorph spell it says you can transform a willing character or creature into either whatever cr or level you want so does that mean I could do something like polymorph a summon of mine into a copy of me or are you just not able to turn a summon into a pc
True polymorph says you turn a creature into another "kind of creature". I.e. not a specific creature.

so the new level or CR cannot be higher than it already has. If you can summon a CR equal to your level, then maybe, but this doesn’t mean they become you: they still have their own alignment and personality, and now they have your abilities to use against you as punishment for polymorphing them.

If you want to create a "copy" of you (or another character), with some limitations, then Simulacrum may be what you want.

If you want to create a "copy" of you (or another character), with some limitations, then Simulacrum may be what you want.
