I'm planning on having my players encounter a neh-thalggu, and I've been looking over the creature's stat block, but something doesn't make sense. A neh-thalggu can only use its Extract Brain ability on an incapacitated Humanoid. This isn't that much of a problem, as its Mind Blast feature can incapacitate a Humanoid, except for the fact that the target is only incapacitated until the end of its next turn. This would mean that when it comes around to the neh-thalggu's turn again after it has used Mind Blast, the target incapacitated by it would have already taken their next turn and no longer be incapacitated, so the neh-thalggu cannot use its Extract Brain ability on it. This makes the neh-thalggu's very powerful Extract Brain ability basically useless unless it is able to cast hold person and/or hypnotic pattern, which not all neh-thalggu are able to do. Am I missing something here, or is the neh-thalggu's Mind Blast not supposed to be used to allow it to then use its Extract Brain ability?
I read it as the character is incapacitated until the end of the monster's next turn. Similar to how Monk's Stunning Strike works.
It's quite possible that that's the intention, but the "its" in the sentence would refer to the target, grammatically.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?

I think that it's clear that the mind blast only incapacitates until the victim's next turn.
How, then, does the beastie eat brains? By smacking its opponents down to 0 hp. Or by appearing in numbers.
Instant-kill attacks are typically hard to use, especially at low levels.
