Okay, new-ish to D&D. Our party has stumbled into Shadowfell and we ended the game last week with two of us on guard as a party of Shades began to approach.
The main issue I am having is with the distinction "MEDIUM UNDEAD." What does that mean? Are they unaffected by the same spells that regular UNDEAD are unaffected by?
Why is there this distinction if they are basically just plain old UNDEAD?

HELP!
Medium is just their size
Medium refers to the size of the creature and undead to its type. Neither has anything particular to do with the other. The different sizes are explained here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/monsters#Size and the different types here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/monsters#Type
Thank you! This makes sense. And thanks for the links!
Got it...that makes sense. Just so much to learn...
