I have a homebrew item that allows the wearer's spirit to exit their body kind of like the Astral Projection spell. Apart of the backstory for the character who uses the item is that he was trapped in a tomb, not able to get via the spell or in his physical body. So I was wondering if there were any spells or runes the would stop a spirit from crossing them. If there isn't, are there any similar runes or spells i could modify to work on spirits? I do love a good homebrew function.

There's a couple other warding spells like Mordenkainen’s Private Sanctum or Hallow that have a similar vibe, although there's pretty much nothing that comes to mind that will work on a humanoid's Astral Projection strictly by RAW since these things all seem to check creature type. Honestly, if you're the DM and especially if this is just backstory, don't sweat the exact mechanics; you have discretion to set whatever kind of wards are appropriate to a circumstance, regardless of how closely they match any official spell or other effect.
Ooh, so I think I got something down with a "modified" Mordenkainen's Private Sanctum (aka, unless anyone specifically asks what the spell is, I am just going to politely ignore that I have no clue)

The homebrew item sounds similar to the Magic Jar spell.
