I'm currently playing a cleric very heavily based on Reimu Hakurei from Touhou. If any of you know really anything about this character, you know where this is going, but for those who don't, I'll explain. Reimu in the games and lore has an innate ability to dodge pretty much everything, sometimes even subconsciously teleporting to avoid attacks.
I was wondering just how OP Evasion would be as a feat. I've also considered changing it so that it's more similar to the Reckless Attacks feat, or just removing the "half-damage" section of the trait. Idk, thoughts?
Generally speaking it's shaky ground to bring a feat you've personally homebrewed to a table like this. And class features above tier 1 are generally more powerful than what they want to give via feats. Honestly, your best bet as a Cleric is Shield Master to get something like the effect; or possibly Defensive Duelist if you're using DEX over STR. Not saying you absolutely can't bring a feat you homebrewed to the table, but it's something you'll probably want to run past your DM before you get too invested in working out the feat.
Also, as a personal take, trying to more than very loosely base a D&D character on an anime character doesn't work out; very different combat dynamics.
The answer is you should really talk about this with your DM, rather than the internet. Evasion as a feat would be more powerful than any existing feat in the game and as a feat would potentially be accessible as early as level 1, instead of level 7. That said as a Cleric you have Shield proficiency so I would recommend instead looking at the Shield Master feat.
If you were the DM I would suggest homebrewing this as a supernatural gift, rather than as a feat. This way you control when, where, and to whom it is awarded. You could also go the route of a magic item, but then it could get passed around.
Talk to your DM, but if it were my table I'd say transforming a 7th level class feature into a regular Feat is definitely not gonna happen. If you want Evasion, you should play a class that gets Evasion.
Most of the time it works like this (with a few exceptions):
Subclass abilities = most powerful
Class abilities = 2nd most powerful
Feats = weakest
Evasion is a Class ability. Making it a feat, available to all is definitely overpowered for a feat. If you made it a once per short rest ability, that would probably be a reasonable feat.

Pretty much what the title says.
