So here's the part of the spell description in question. " You can form it into a hemispherical dome or a sphere with a radius of up to 10 feet, or you can shape a flat surface made up of ten 10-foot-by-10-foot panels. Each panel must be contiguous with another panel." It also says that the range/area is 120 ft. So 10ft squared is 100ft, you only get 1 10x10 panel.
Or If I were to take a sphere that had a ten-foot radius and take only the surface of that sphere and chop it up into 10ft by 10ft squares panels, I would get
Now, let’s find out how many 10 ft by 10 ft square panels can cover this surface area. Each panel has an area of ( 10 \times 10 = 100 ) square feet. Therefore, the number of panels is:
Area of one panel Surface area=100400π=4π≈12.57panels
How is that relevant? From the spell description, you get: Ten 10-foot-by-10-foot panels.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
The “Range/Area” section lists range first and primarily then for some spells also lists area. See fireball as an example. Other spells such as acid splash don’t list an area because they target a creature. Note that for areas, the shape of the area is listed. Also note that all areas are listed in linear dimensions with that measurement referring to the primary dimension of the shape. Since wall of force doesn’t have one of the shapes listed with a primary dimension and is instead made of arrangeable panels, its area is not listed in the usual way.
Oh yeah you're right, I missed that little word 'ten' before the 10-foot-by-10-foot part. Thanks!
I figured that might be the case, but you actually quoted the same bit in your post =D

It's pretty easy for my brain to ignore the same word twice in a sentence. That is one of the reasons my posts have so many edits.
I had to double check three times before I was like ... certain-certain that I wouldn't just make a fool of myself if I pointed out that it says there are 10 squares. So I get it =)

I just made the same mistake during my game today. Looked at that spell at least 20 times trying to figure out how many panels I could use and never saw the "ten" haha. Or my brain just combined it with the 10 for some dumb reason 😂🤣

The formula for the surface area of a sphere is:
Surface area=4πr2
where ( r ) represents the radius of the sphere. Plugging in the value of ( r = 10 ) feet:
Surface area=4π⋅102=400πft2
Now, let’s find out how many 10 ft by 10 ft square panels can cover this surface area. Each panel has an area of ( 10 \times 10 = 100 ) square feet. Therefore, the number of panels is:
Area of one panel Surface area=100400π=4π≈12.57panels
So, you would get approximately 12.57 panels from the surface of the sphere. Keep in mind that this is an approximation due to the use of π in the calculations. If you need a more precise value, you can use a numerical approximation for π (e.g., 3.14).
How is that relevant? From the spell description, you get: Ten 10-foot-by-10-foot panels.
