Here is a question about sneak attack as it came up in the campaign im part of today so sneak attack says you need advantage for it but not if there is an enemy of the target is within 5ft of it and the enemy isnt incapacitated and i dont have disadvantage on the attack roll... so we were fighting some bandits 1 of them poisoned me which gives me disadvantage but then another party member was flanking which i believe if i wasnt poisoned id have advantage at that point which mean the advantage from flanking and the disadvantage from being poisoned would cancel each other out if im not mistaken right? If so since the other party member was within 5ft of my target id have sneak attack right? We decided not to as DM felt that since i was poisoned and had disadvantage from being poisoned it wouldnt make sense id get it so just wondering if it sneak attack would count in that scenario and would it count for oppertunity attack while bein poisoned yet also flanking
Having another party member adjacent to the target doesn’t give you advantage, it just allows you to sneak attack. So in this case, you still have disadvantage, and cannot use sneak attack.
Flanking is an optional rule though. If your DM allows flanking, then the disadvantage from poison and the advantage from flanking would indeed cancel. You have neither advantage nor disadvantage, but since you still meet the other criteria (having another enemy within 5' of the target) for sneak attack it should apply in that case.
If you have flanking advantage rules turned on, then yes, the two cancel each other out and you're considered to have neither advantage nor disadvantage as stated above. Therefore, you can still get Sneak Attack that way.
If you're using the optional class features from Tasha's, then you could also Steady Aim (give up your movement as a BA to gain advantage) and cancel the poison disadvantage out. You would still need an ally adjacent to the enemy for Sneak Attack while in this state.
For flavor: Despite being poisoned, the assistance of your ally or the intense focus you put into that single strike allow you to utilize your training despite the poison's influence.

He does give us advantage if we flank

Ah, cool, then yes, as others have stated, advantage and disadvantage would cancel each other out.
