I'm curious about something. Regular spellbooks that wizard's use (from the PHB's equipment list) are mundane items but what about the spells on the pages within, are they considered to be magical? Would they be detected by the Detect Magic spell?
The second line from the link in post #2 as to what counts as magical reads:
Is it a spell? Or does it let you create the effects of a spell that’s mentioned in its description?
Does the spell have to be cast to count as magical? Or do the spells written on the pages of mundane spellbooks qualify?
To me a spellbook isn't magical, it's mundane book containing unique compilation of spells, margin notes etc recorded in your own unique system of notation.
When they refer to spell in wether something is magical, to me it's referring to spell effect.
What is a Spell: A spell is a discrete magical effect, a single shaping of the magical energies that suffuse the multiverse into a specific, limited expression.
I ask this question having read a line under the Robe of the Archmagi that says:
What are magical effects? Is a dragon's breath weapon a magical effect?
Cheers in advance for your answers.
SAC states that a dragon's breath is not a magical effect this link also gives guidance to decide whether something is magical

As someone once said: 'A spellbook is not magical; the wizard is.'
