I have been looking at the rules for the 2024 handbook and many of the optional rules became features… but some did not, like the Monks Ki fuelled attack which lets you attack with a monk weapon as a bonus action whenever you spend ki as part of an action.
With backwards comparability, could you still use that feature… the guide seems a bit vague on the optional rules.
Edit: I suppose a few monk ones wouldn’t work anyway because they no longer have ‘Ki’
As written in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, theese optional class features aren't gained automatically and require DM approval.
Optional Class Features: You gain class features in the Player’s Handbook when you reach certain levels in your class. This section offers additional features that you can gain as a monk. Unlike the features in the Player’s Handbook, you don’t gain the features here automatically. Consulting with your DM, you decide whether to gain a feature in this section if you meet the level requirement noted in the feature’s description. These features can be selected separately from one another; you can use some, all, or none of them.

I'm of the opinion that the Tasha's features are options for the 2014 classes, and the 2024 classes don't use them.
Also, I think the new monk can just attack as a bonus action, regardless of their main action, but I can't confirm that.
Yeah I thought the same
Yes the new monk can, but only as a unarmed strike not with s weapon like the tasha’ss optional rule

I'm very annoyed that it seems that at least for now, the Tasha's features don't work on new classes.
I'm desperate for favored foe to replace the new favored enemy. Give me my no-action ability back.
Playing high charisma characters with no real life charisma - the only fantasy that still eludes me.
Yeah that sucks, sorry!
I thought there was going to be way more clarity offered regarding 2014 content in the PHB.
