I know I am late by a mile, but in case anyone else checks this ask for context :
The first aid kit on page 225 of the 2024 phb states ". . .without needing to make a Wisdom(medicine) check."
This means that one can attempt to stabilize a creature at 0 hp without a healer's kit by taking a Help action and making the check listed above. (In OP's reply)
So one can stabilize in one of two ways : as a utilize action using the healer's kit without the need for a Medicine check; or with the help action requiring the roll but not the kit. (This also means that a character that can make a help action as a bonus action (such as a hobgoblin player using MMotM) may attempt to stabilize a creature as a bonus action. While a thief rogue needs a healer's kit to stabilize someone as a bonus action (fast hands ability pg. 137 of 2024 phb)
At least that is my interpretation of the rules. Nowhere else in the book does it say "first aid" not even the index. So it should have been either labeled better, or described in better detail to avoid confusion.
Interesting... Mastermind Rogue with Bonus Action Help can be a medic (with a medicine check), as well as a Thief Rogue with Bonus Action Utilize healer's kit (no check required).
Anyone can help stabilize a dying creature with the help action, and only if a healer’s kit is available can anyone use it to stabilize without the check as a bonus action.
In 2014 the kit still needed a check to stabilize, but you got advantage on the roll, now its just an automatic stabilization by way of use.

I noticed in the PHB it lists Help on the Actions table (https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/phb-2024/playing-the-game#Actions) as
Help another creature’s ability check or attack roll, or administer first aid
But on the Help page (https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/free-rules/rules-glossary#HelpAction) it doesn't mention administer first aid
Did I miss something?
I think the help table mislabeled it. First aid would require the utilize action as you are using a toolkit.
I'm guessing it's for stabilizing
Stabilizing a Character
You can take the Help action to try to stabilize a creature with 0 Hit Points, which requires a successful DC 10 Wisdom (Medicine) check

Mechanically it's the same as 2014, where you used the Help action to stabilize a fallen player.
