If I have a Shortsword in my main hand and a Shadowblade in my offhand and then I use 2024 True Strike to attack with the Shortsword, can I now use a bonus action attack with the Shadowblade? True Strike now works like Booming Blade in that it involves you using a Melee attack.
Another question: Do attacks made with a Shadowblade use your spellcasting modifier for the attack and damage rolls?
You can't use a bonus action to attack with the Shadow Blade. True Strike isn't the Attack action, which is required to allow the bonus action attack of a Light weapon.
Shadow Blade attacks don't use your spellcasting modifier, no.

If you cast True Strike as your action no, if you use something like Eldritch Knight's War Magic or College of Valor Bard's Extra Attack (which is the same as Bladesingers) to perform the attack action but replace one of the attacks with a cantrip (that being true strike) yes.
Another question: Do attacks made with a Shadowblade use your spellcasting modifier for the attack and damage rolls?
Nothing about Shadowblade let's you use your spellcasting Modifier, it is however a Finesse Weapon, so you can use either Strength or Dexterity, the only way you could make an attack with Shadowblade using your Spellcasting Modifier is via Truestrike.
Now that opens up an interesting question, you make an attack with a shortsword and then use Extra Attack from College of Valor to cast true strike which you use the Shadow Blade for performing an attack. Does using Shadow Blade in this method allow you to make a bonus action attack as per the light property, with the shortsword*? The only issue with this, is you are using your spellcasting modifier (Charisma for Bard) to attack with True Strike but the shortsword is Strength or Dexterity, it can be gotten around with Pact of the Blade (say by taking a single level dip into Warlock and choosing that invocation).
*RAW says you need to take the attack action and attack with a light weapon, it does not specify that the light weapon attack has to be part of the attack action itself. So technically I think this does work, but I don't believe it'd be RAI.

Unfortunately, Shadow Blade does not meet the 1 CP requirement for true strike.
Are you sure it doesn't meet the 1CP requirement? The spell focus used in casting shadowblade is an integral part of the sword isn't it? The focus has a value greater than 1CP.

Just asking for a friend.
Shadow Blade does not have a material component, so you don't use a spellcasting focus when casting it.
After reading all the responses I looked into it and even though there is a measure of ambiguity to True Strike's description as to whether it is a Magic action or an attack action, I am leaning to it being an a magic action as it uses a Somatic and Material component. However, a small argument could be made that is clearly says it's a melee attack in the description, therefor making it an attack action. Google AI says this however- "Yes, all melee attacks in Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition are part of the Attack action, unless they are part of a spell or other special action".- Talk to your DM. Convince him for the sake of the people. Vengeful Blade plus dagger mastery "Nick" attack plus bonus action dagger attack is something I need in my life....

There's no ambiguity at all as to whether True Strike is a Magic action or an Attack action. It's a Magic action. Casting a spell with a casting time of 1 action is always a Magic action.
Please don't use "AI" tools as a substitute for actually reading the rules.

Upon further inquiry, the glossary definition of Magic action nullifies my flimsy argument.
Magic [Action]
When you take the Magic action, you cast a spell that has a casting time of an action or use a feature or magic item that requires a Magic action to be activated.
True strike is a spell with a casting time of 1 action, therefore it is not a attack action, therefore not fulfilling the requirement : "When you take the Attack action on your turn and attack with a Light weapon, you can make one extra attack as a Bonus Action later on the same turn."
I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet but the shadowblade spell isn't in the 2024 PHB as of yet I was currently looking online to see if it was because I was considering a build around it so or now we have to homebrew it. Id recommend asking you're DM's about it before doing any games with it, it's a shame that the spell didn't come in the new PHB, it's so much fun to use and very useful for melee blaster builds.
Shadow Blade was introduced in Xanathar's and as such is part of the "Expanded Rules" which are available under 5e24 - UNLESS your DM says 2024 content ONLY.
In which case he is mean and unreasonable and should be forced to buy pizza for the whole table to make up for it.

This. If the 2024 books clearly say that you're allowed to use all other books, and even tells you how to update the stuff from them, it's on your DM if they ban them, not on WotC.

Easy solution: don't use 2024 garbage. The game was fine before it. And it broke just as much as it fixed.

Or they actually want balance in their game. There are a lot of broken things in expanded rules.

The game was very much not fine, and they fixed WAY more than they broke. But that's not the topic of this thread, so let's leave it. You like 2014 rules better, some of us like 2024 ones better. There's no right or wrong, so let's not call anything garbage.
The point of this was that you very much can use 2014 content in a 2024 campaign. The books themselves say so.

Alright. Was hoping it changed to "make a melee attack" not just "attack action", but I don't have the new PHB so I wasn't sure. Thanks
