I was having a discussion with my players about the teleport spell. I believe that all creatures must fit within the area/range of the teleport, that being a 10x10x10 zone, whereas my players think that as long as part of the creature is within that zone then they can be teleported as well. So for example if a huge creature such as a Cloud Giant or a Balor were to have their leg in the zone, they would be primed to be teleported. If those can, then can even larger creatures such as a Kraken or a Ancient Gold Dragon also be teleported in the same manner?
I sorta view the spell as, trying to fit 8 creatures in a van for transportation, they they cant all fit within that space, they cant all be transported. I think this because there is size limits for objects to be transported, as they need to fit within the 10x10x10 space.
Should creatures larger than the 10-foot cube area be affected by the teleport spell?
Your players are correct. Teleport just requires you to be able to see the creatures within the range. If you see the toe of a Cloud Giant within 10 feet of yourself, you're good to go. Also, the range of the spell isn't really a 10-foot cube, it's a sphere with a 10-foot radius centered on the caster.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.

That's not what the spell says though. It works differently for objects and creatures, and the latter don't have size or shape restrictions.

The restrictions on objects are likely so that players don't try teleporting buildings and the like, because they would totally try that otherwise.
