So, I just finished the Baulder's Gate 3 game in a "happy" ending, which got me oddly emotional, and made me decide to take my Paladin out of the Game and into TTRPG for future use. Granted, the items he is wearing are probably quite OP, but i made him as i could swapping over.
That being said, I had to Homebrew practically all of his items made from the game, which did surprise me.
I suppose i now wonder if there'll be some collaboration with Larian and WotC to cross over all those nifty named items to use. Hell, It could be a rulebook and I would pay extra to have the ability to use them.
As I understand it, WotC owns the content from BG3, so they could, in theory, make the items here. But I don’t think they will. Many of them introduce entire new mechanics that they’re unlikely to want to have to develop for an item or two. Or they’re things that work well on a computer, but would create a good bit of extra bookkeeping in tabletop. Also, I’d think if it was going to happen, it would have happened by now. I know the game is still popular, but it also kind of old news at this point.
Yeah, they did the movie magic items pretty quickly after the movie hit theaters. I’m sure there’s a lot more stuff in BG3 (haven’t got around to it yet), but it’s also been out for about a year and a half now. You can always try private homebrew.
I agree most of the low level (1-5) items from BG3 are really great (not over-powerful yet interesting) items. I've been dropping them more or less unmodified in my games.
As levels progress, that does change as Xalthu discussed. Computers are great at certain things that are really annoying to do as humans. :)
I would point out though that some of the 'new mechanics' were previews of the 2024 update (weapon masteries coming to mind).
