In DMG2024, Scroll of Titan Summoning can summon Animal Lord, does this prove Animal Lord is Titan? But in MM, Animal Lord is only celestial, and Titan is not mentioned in block or lore. Is it a mistake that would appear in errata? Or can Scroll of Titan Summoning summon someone 'like' Titan?
It's an interesting point; everything else listed for the scroll has the "titan" subtype, so offhand I'd guess someone managed to drop the ball and forgot to put it on the Animal Lord statblock. Regardless, given that the scroll works from a preset list, there's no real mechanical implications of the use of the word "titan" in describing what's summoned by it, and it could just as easily be a case that Animal Lords are just "titan-like" enough to be included.
Animal Lord is not a titan per se, despite the possibility of being determined randomly on the table.
Such tags have no rule of their own though, but we don't know at this time if it was meant to be a titan or an exception in the table.
Descriptive Tags: A monster might have one or more tags in parentheses following its type. Such tags provide additional categorization and have no rules of their own, but certain game effects might refer to them. Lists of monster groups related by descriptive tags appear in appendix B of the Monster Manual.
