I am making a wizard character, but when I added the starting equipment, the arcane focus didn't show in my inventory, replaced by a mundane quarterstaff. Does anyone know why this happened? How can I fix it?
There doesn't seem to be a default item in the D&D Beyond Character Creator that is an "Arcane Focus (Quarterstaff)" that functions as a Quarterstaff Weapon within the character builder (having to-hit and damage listed in the Action section, etc). This is presumably why the character builder listed a Quarterstaff in your starting equipment selection.
As for how you fix it, since there are no character-builder interactions, limitations, or new options for whether or not you actually have an Official Arcane Focus in your inventory...
On the completed Character Sheet, Click on the Quarterstaff in your Inventory, select "Customize" from the options, and enter "Arcane Focus (Quarterstaff)" in the Name field, to remind yourself that this particular Quarterstaff is one of your Spellcasting Focuses. That's pretty much it.
Edit: I stand Corrected, there is a Staff item that both functions as a Weapon, and is an Arcane Focus in the Items section. So, it's a bug in the character builder. So on the inventory page on your completed Character, click on the "Manage Inventory" button, search for and add "Staff" and remove the Quarterstaff.
A quarterstaff is an arcane focus. If you look up arcane focus in equipment it can be a crystal, orb, rod, staff(also a quarterstaff), or wand. Wizards start with a quarterstaff for an arcane focus as part of their starting equipment.
A staff Arcane Focus is bejeweled or carved to channel arcane magic and worth more than a normal Quarterstaff (5 GP vs 2 SP), so they're not equivalent, not all Quarterstaff is a Staff Arcane Focus.

Thank you, this helped a lot.

🎵I'm on top of the world, looking down on creation, wreaking death and devastation with my mind.
As the power that I've found erupts freely from the ground, I will cackle from the top of the world.🎵
