Would the artificer enchanced defense effect the warforged integrated protection defensive layers (<----is that armor?) is what it boils down to. Guess would you consider it worn armor, you get a plus 1 from it. Thoughts?
Enhanced Defense
Item: A suit of armor or a shield
A creature gains a +1 bonus to Armor Class while wearing (armor) or wielding (shield) the infused item.
Integrated Protection
Your body has built-in defensive layers, which can be enhanced with armor:
I don't think that's the question being asked here — I think they were asking whether you could actually put the Enhanced Defense infusion in the Integrated Protection bonus as though it were a piece of armor, and I think the answer to that is no (because despite providing a +1 to AC, it isn't a piece of armor).
You can apply the Enhanced Defense infusion to a piece of armor that you incorporate into your body via that species feature, but the feature that grants +1 to AC regardless of what armor you're wearing isn't a piece of armor.
This is kinda what I meant, if the defensive layers could be considered as armor thus the enhanced defense would work. This would give a warforged base ac of 12. If this doesn't work then would Enhanced defense work on the armored shell of a Tortle raising it's base ac to 18?

Enhanced Defense has to be put in "a suit of armor or a shield". These natural armors that things like Tortles have generally aren't considered "a suit of armor" in this sense. Some DMs might allow it, but under the Rules As Written it doesn't count.

Yes. These are both bonuses to your AC, and are not mutually exclusive. You can benefit from both at the same time.
