I'm pretty new to D&D and I have a small group of friends that will be playing through Storm King's Thunder and I was wondering if playing a Changeling in this campaign could be made campaign-friendly. I'm unclear if Eberron is another continent or region within the larger D&D world, where Storm King's Thunder would also take place, or if it is just a straight up entirely different world.
Hope this makes sense, any help would be great. I'll be talking to my DM about it, but I wanted to understand what I'd be talking about and have a possible solution in mind before I bother anyone else with it.
At the end of the day, it’s up to your DM. Changelings could be native to your DM’s interpretation of the game world, or your character could have fallen through a portal to Faerûn.
The default setting of Storm King's Thunder is Forgotten Realms, which is a different setting Eberron. They are not in the same world.
However, there is no particular reason why Changeling can't be in Forgotten Realms as well.
Yes, ask your DM about it. To be 100% clear, you should also mention that Changeling is currently in a playtest phase.
I am running Rise of Tiamat (setting Forgotten Realms) and I have allowed a player making a Changeling character. So far it has been great in an undercover mission of sorts.
Since I'm making my Changeling a warlock I was considering explaining my appearance by saying I had been brought there by my patron to carry out some currently unclear mission.
It all comes down to whether or not the DM can fit them in lore-wise, and whether or not they're power-imbalanced for the campaign or campaign world.
I have a player bringing in a Warforged character. I re-skinned the character lore-wise to fit into my current campaign world - and he's pretty much unique in the part of the world they are in ( explained through the backstory ), but you can make anything work with some editing and creativity :)

If it were me, I’d be all for it.

I really appreciate the quick response!

But yeah, this was really helpful, thanks again!
