From the 2024 Players handbook, it says, in the level 20 druid feature
"Nature Magician. You can convert uses of Wild Shape into a spell slot (no action required). Choose a number of your unexpended uses of Wild Shape and convert them into a single spell slot, with each use contributing 2 spell levels. For example, if you convert two uses of Wild Shape, you produce a level 4 spell slot. Once you use this benefit, you can’t do so again until you finish a Long Rest."
Using this, could you turn your four wild shapes into a level 8 spell slot, and then take a long rest and do it again?
Because if you could, then that would be ridiculously OP

Hello! Call me GAYto or Gato (Cat in Spanish) My pronouns are They/She (Prefers She/her) I am a teenager. I have ADHD, Depression, and anxiety. I'm also Genderfae, Pansexual, Aromantic, Trans Androgynous, Asexual, and sometimes Transfem but this community means the world to me; you can't change that about me :[roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] = [roll][roll:-4]+[roll:-3]+[roll:-2]+[roll:-1][/roll] I have adopted Golden, Salem, Wes, and Aspen
I think a very strict reading of the rules would say that that works, because technically it doesn't say that the extra spell slot goes away if you haven't used it yet when you take that Long Rest. Good luck finding a DM that will actually let you do that, though; I certainly wouldn't.

That is in fact, what I thought you would say
Ironicly you can use a different part of that feature to do slightly less powerful stuff, but still broken

Wait, does it ever even say the spell slot goes away when you cast with it? Strict RAW, does this just produce a permanent level 8 spell slot every day you don't do anything?

Obviously that's ridiculous. But wth WotC?
I believe that is a feature that is in the spellcasting rules
Other wise all of the spell slots would be permanent
If it said that the spell slot didn't go away after casting a spell with it, then, yes it would, but i doesn't
Also, you can make 2th, 4th, and 6th spells slots with it, if you wanted to, I don't know why you would tho

I think what Squirrelloid is saying is that even though the spell slot is expended when you cast a spell with it, it still exists, and arguably gets restored when you take a Long Rest, so you now you have 2 the next day. Pretty clearly not how it's intended to work, but it doesn't seem like there's anything explicitly saying that.
Many of the rules around spellcasting seem to be based on the idea that a Long Rest will "reset" your spell slots to the specific number of them that you're defined to have at your level in the big class table. That's clearly how it's intended to work, but nothing in the spellcasting rules for the class actually says that explicitly; it just says that expended spell slots are restored, without saying anything about what happens to extra ones you might have picked up somehow.

Oh, jeez, that would be more insanely broken
Wait, there's also nothing saying that in the sorcerer spell slots that says that,
Does that mean that you can do the same with sorcerer?

Sorcerer is different, because the ability that lets you create extra spell slots does explicitly say that any spell slot created that way vanishes when you finish a Long Rest.
The Druid feature clearly should have some language like that, but doesn't.
Another way to fix the Druid feature would be to reword it so that it's restoring an expended spell slot rather than creating a new one.

To me it reads like the intent is to cast a spell with the Wild Shape resources instead of creating a spell slot to hang onto. Essentially, I think they intended the effect to be something like:
Nature Magician. You can cast a spell fueled by uses of Wild Shape. When casting a spell, choose a number of your unexpended uses of Wild Shape and convert them into a single spell slot for that casting, with each use contributing 2 spell levels. For example, if you convert two uses of Wild Shape, you produce a level 4 spell slot. Once you use this benefit, you can't do so again until you finish a Long Rest.
Hide in the woods for a year to get an extra 365 level 8 spell slots! Wizards hate this one simple trick!
In all seriousness, there's absolutely no way this is intended. I'd run it the same way as Sorcerer, that it expires when the Long Rest happens.
There's an argument that could be made that this line nullifies extra spell slots gained in ways like this and that Sorcerer's line is redundant:
Spell Slots. The Druid Features table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your level 1+ spells. You regain all expended slots when you finish a Long Rest.
Basically, the number of spell slots is set and that's it. All other features are temporary under that argument. But I can't say it's decisively correct.

That's a laughably poor argument though. That rule doesn't give any special allowance for temporary slots (at any time) so if "that's it" then you would never be able to create any temporary slots at all.

I didn't say it was good, only that it's the only thing I can see that could really be used in such a way.

It technically is wrong, because of the rule that says that general rules are beaten by exceptions
