I was thinking of making a Bard that works like a News Caster.  But since scrying is a 5th Level spell, I can see that not happening until 9th Level.  Is there any way I can make this character viable?

Your Bard could do some information gathering by going to Speak with Animals source and Detect Thoughts of others. It could remote survey areas using Clairvoyance and use magic to Locate Creature of interest or Sending and Tongues to communicate with them on various news subjects.

Or you make it all up as a Charlatan #fakenews

If you could somehow get your hands on a Crystal Ball… time for a side quest for your Bard.

So, is the idea that the Bard is the anchor person using Scry to view/report on remote locations?

Would the Eerie Token from a Hexblood (Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft) work?
