If you would have an DnD adventure to the warp of Warhammer40k and the Characters are exposed to its influence (Looking into a Portal, Out of a windows while in the warp)?
Wisdom or Intelligence Save ? Would be a save DC of 15 ok if just exposed though a window (inside of a ship) or looking trough a portal? 3w6 psychic damage (half dmg on sucessful save)?
When directly exposed without protection in the warp dimension DC 20 save + 10w6 psychic dmg?
Would you set the effects up like this, or would you choose the numbers or dmg dice differently?
As someone who is fully immersed in both franchises :
D&D has different expectations - so the DC/damage is going to be entirely dependent on the level of the party - but I'd lower the damage, make it a save each round, half damage on a successful save. AND I'd add status effects on failed save: charmed, frightened, restrained.... - the damage should be the least of their worries.
If you were trying to run a 40K campaign using D&D, then the saves/damage would be pretty spot on - but I still add status effects, especially for direct exposure
I’d suggest checking out the DMG rules on traps. They have good number ranges for DCs and damage based on the character level and whether you want the damage to just be a nuisance , deadly, or somewhere in between. I realize this isn’t a trap per se, but I think the guidance they give there would apply here.
Additionally, I’d consider adding a level of exhaustion to whatever damage you land on to represent how fatiguing it’s meant to be.
