True Strike and improvised weapons

If you have tavern brawler or some other way to be proficient in improvised weapons does true strike work with it. 

By RAW, yes, if the DM agrees that the improvised weapon is worth at least 1 copper piece.

Sweet my bullseye concept can live. 

Yell "Penny for your thoughts!" and then throw a True Strike copper piece at someone's head. Your DM will either love it or hate it.
