Blade Ward question

Hi everyone,

I try to create a monk with some magic initiate talent. I read the Blade ward cantrip but i wonder because the text :

"Whenever a creature makes an attack roll against you before the spell ends, the attacker subtracts 1d4 from the attack roll"

So does it work on a spell attack roll too ? not only vs weapons ?

Yes, it only says “attack roll”, so any time an enemy rolls against your AC qualifies.

Yeah, if it just says "attack roll", it applies to any attack roll, including weapon attacks, spell attacks, and damage unarmed strikes.
