Given the wording that was mentioned in Post #3, it would make sense under the 2024 rules to roll damage individually for each dart.
However, keep in mind that this spell description explicitly says that all of the darts strike simultaneously. So, even though people don't often play this way, the best way to run it is to have the spellcaster declare which darts are hitting which targets ahead of time before any damage is known / resolved.
I did this and was immediately criticized for "wasting" missiles on a downed enemy.

The best way to run is however the DM tells you it works. If the DM lets you know the results of the first missile before choosing targets for additional missiles, it's a good idea to take advantage of that.
Well, since the reason 2014 could roll 1 die for all the darts is because of some periphery rule in the "damage" section, i'd mark it as worth asking wotc whether they removed it to change magic missile in a completely different section of the book, or if someone removed it cause they didnt think about downstream consequences
While you can ask, given that it's a change that only affects magic missile, it's a pretty safe bet that the intent was to prevent the rule from applying to magic missile.
