Additionally, when you take the Attack action, you can forgo one of your own attacks to allow your familiar to make one attack of its own with its Reaction.
-------------------------------
Disappearance of the Familiar. When the familiar drops to 0 Hit Points, it disappears. It reappears after you cast this spell again. As a Magic action, you can temporarily dismiss the familiar to a pocket dimension. Alternatively, you can dismiss it forever. As a Magic action while it is temporarily dismissed, you can cause it to reappear in an unoccupied space within 30 feet of you. Whenever the familiar drops to 0 Hit Points or disappears into the pocket dimension, it leaves behind in its space anything it was wearing or carrying.
One Familiar Only. You can’t have more than one familiar at a time. If you cast this spell while you have a familiar, you instead cause it to adopt a new eligible form.
Ok so I have a question for a ChainLock.
Your familiar have Actions that have a daily limit. Like the Quasit Scare (1/Day) or the Sphinx of Wanders Burst of Ingenuity (2/Day).
What happen if your quasit familiar dies and you spend the 10 gp material component and re-summon it immediately? Is the scare restored or it still counts as expended for the day after his disappearance and reappearance? All his HP are restored I guess, so I am curious if his daily actions would to. My instinct says no, but I was interested into hearing if people have thought about it.
And after your quasit has used his daily Scare during a fight and has been reduced to 1 hp you change the familiar form twice, let's say from Quasit to Sphinx to Quasit. What happens to their HPs? Is the scare restored?
It doesn't, because when it dies and you recall it, you get the same familiar that disappeared. If you want to regain these abilities without waiting, you need a new familiar entirely. For that, you need to use a Magic action to dismiss it forever, then call another one. As for how the HP behaves when changing form, there's no rule that I know of on this, so it's up to the DM. I'd say doing so restores all HP, if at least for simplicity.

Then I understand now why Pact of the Chain didn't remove the 10gp of rare incense Material Component of Find Familiar.
Being able to cure a familiar for free would be overpowered possibly.
