I have been searching for a while online for answers to these questions and can find none! I need help!
1. What exactly is the difference between a celestial, fey and fiend other than their allignments? What makes them unique compared to one another?
2. Do the stats, from the regular form of the beast you choose, change when selecting one of these three options (celestial, fey and fiend)?
3. If you choose to clap and you temporarily dismiss your familiar, if you clap again, can it be brought back from its plane immediately or do you have to summon them again with a ritual or spell slot?
The only effective difference between choosing a celestial, fey or fiend is that certain rare spells and effects might affect or not affect the familiar depending on that type (though most stuff affect one will affect all), and that certain types of spells and effects might discover the nature of your familiar and that might reveal things about your own alignment.
Do familiars of particular types get any characteristics associated with that type? For example, does a fiendish familiar get fire resistance or immunity? In previous editions, there was a fiendish or celestial or fey "template", but I don't see anything similar in 5E. Or is it generally just flavoring? (Nothing wrong with flavoring)
They get no traits or features based on that choice. The only effect is that the familiar is a creature of that type, and so any other spell or effect that is based on a creature's type will affect them based on their type.

Thank you!
