Summon Familiar + Ritual casting w/o having spell slots

Okay my Wednesday group had a situation come up. 

The Barbarian took two new feats from the Arcana book. Familiar friend and  Otherworldly Familiar

The Familiar friend gives him the ability to cast find familiar without spell slots or components x1 per day. 

The group argued that since find familiar can be cast as a ritual spell he should be able to cast it as much as he wants provided he has the materials. 

My perspective is that feat that gives him the find familiar spell limits him to x1 per day. 

What do you all think?

Does the one that allows the cast of Find Familiar say that the character always has the spell prepared, or just that they may cast the spell without a slot or components once per day? Ritual casting in 2024 requires that the spell be prepared, so a feat would need language like that found in Magic Initiate to be able to be ritual cast the spell gained from it.

Once per day, no components.

Though we always thought of the components as somethings that would attract a specific type of familiar.  But they got rid of that flavor and now just tell everyone they get to choose.

Here is the relevant part of the feat:

Faithful Companion. You always have the Find Familiar spell prepared. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell (choose when you select this feat). You can cast it once without a spell slot or Material components, and you regain the ability to cast it in this way when you finish a Long Rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have.

And from the rules on casting spells as a ritual:

Rituals. Certain spells have the Ritual tag in the Casting Time entry. Such a spell can be cast following the normal rules for spellcasting, or it can be cast as a Ritual. The Ritual version of a spell takes 10 minutes longer to cast than normal, but it doesn’t expend a spell slot. To cast a spell as a Ritual, a spellcaster must have it prepared.

The spell is always prepared, so there should be nothing stopping you from casting the spell as a ritual as many times as you like provided you have the costly material components for the spell.

As this Familiar is slightly different and a little more powerful than a standard familiar, I would say that the limitation of 1st per day casting per the description in the Feat is correct.

Can you point to something within the rules that would stop someone from casting it as a ritual? If a spell is prepared, and it has the ritual tag, the rules say you can cast it as a ritual.

No, the rules explicitly allows for it to be cast as a ritual in this case.

The spell slots have never been the limiter for FF, it's the 10G material component that is.

He can cast it as a Ritual. Just remember that Find Familiar takes an hour to cast, plus an additional ten minutes as a Ritual, and requires him to have 10+ Gold Pieces worth of incense to burn. These limitations should make it difficult to cast all that often. Even the free casting of it doesn't prevent the hour casting time.
