a 5th level character, with extra attack, stabs twice. with a melee... because he is more efficient, skilled whatever. if he decides to throw... has he not the same efficiency and skill to throw faster and thus the first throw takes half a turn 3 sec... and he just waits for the remaining 3 secs. this doesn't pass the reasonable expectations test. I think it is clear the weapon draw rule was meant to balance two weapon fighting, and applying it to thrown weapons does not serve that end. thrown weapons having been balanced by properties along with the rest of the weapons in the various tables.

good chat btw
More like: a 5th level character (really, fighter, barbarian, paladin, ranger, or blade pact warlock with the appropriate invocation), with extra attack, stabs twice with a melee weapon, etc., if he decides to throw, he has the same efficiency and skill to throw as fast, and can throw his wielded weapon, draw another one, and throw it, all within the same 6 seconds. That seems a reasonable expectation, I think. What doesn't pass reasonable expectations, though, is that a fighter with four attacks per round can draw four weapons as long as he decides to throw them all. If he stabs with one, or even drops it on the ground, somehow that stops his uncanny drawing speed.
To be fair, though, I would have no problem with allowing a character to "draw" multiple weapons from a single source, to hold in one hand (not in a combat-ready position), so that, for example, a barbarian could draw 3 javelins from his quiver, hold them in one hand, and throw them all with his other hand. Can't draw and wield two javelins, or handaxes, with that move, though, since that's the purview of the Dual Wielder Feat.
