Suggestion is only as strong as the condition allows it to be and how it affects the current situation.
Suggestion: Stand over by the portcullis and don't move unless I tell you to. -Unacceptable: The victim knows that getting near the portcullis could result in death. This would cause the spell to fail as they would be doing something they know would be harmful to their person. -Benign: The victim is removed from combat/social encounter. -Useful: The victim is removed from combat/social encounter and due to proximity to the portcullis is considered a threat and is arrested for trespassing. -Powerful: The victim is redressed in an enemy factions outfit, follows the suggestion. The Players then call out that they've spotted an intruder, creating a distraction allowing them to infiltrate the facility.
These are quick thoughts, I'm sure I could come up with something a lot cleaner, but I hope it helps. Given the same suggestion, and how you apply it to the situation, can make it have some very different results.

Also, it looks like 5e no longer has the whole "jump in this swimming pool" that's really a pool of acid dynamic.
Blood Frenzy. The quipper has advantage on melee attack rolls against any creature that doesn't have all its hit points.
