I am a DM playing through "Out of the Abyss" and have chosen to use Topsy and Turvy as pre-made characters for my players. I want them to be druids with the desire to control their lycanthropy. They are both wererats, and I am confused about how to apply the bonuses of lycanthropy with the druid wild shape feature.
Question 1: The rules seem to imply that the damage immunity provided by lycanthropy affects the humanoid form as well.
"A character who becomes a lycanthrope retains his or her statistics except as specified by lycanthrope type. The character gains the lycanthrope’s speeds in nonhumanoid form, damage immunities, traits, and actions that don’t involve equipment."https://www.dndbeyond.com/compendium/rules/mm/monsters-l#Lizardfolk
Does a PC lycanthrope in humanoid form gain the resistances associated with the lycanthrope? The placement of the commas in the above except seem to indicate yes.
Question 2: The rules seem to imply that a druid using wild shape imparts the bonuses of their race, class, and other sources to their wild shape forms.
"You retain the benefit of any features from your class, race, or other source and can use them if the new form is physically capable of doing so. However, you can’t use any of your special senses, such as darkvision, unless your new form also has that sense."https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/classes/druid
Would that include the resistances provided by lychanthropy? The words "other source" seem to indicate yes.
I would agree with your interpretation. It seems that the damage resistance always apply to a humanoid affected by lycanthropy, regardless of the form. This would apply to wildshape as well.
