I'm new to D & D and have the following questions about races and spells/magic.
Are there any races that cannot use magic in general; or certain spells those races cannot use?
Conversely, are there spells only certain races can use?
I'm asking these questions as I have read that there are certain magical items that can only be activated or used (at least the magical portion) by certain races. So, I wondered if the same was true of casting spells.
No, these 5e rules allow all races to be any class. Then all spells available to a class are free to be used by anyone who has reached the required level in that class. If your universe has no Dwarven Wizards, then that is a specific lore-based restriction that applies only to your game universe; not a mechanical game rule.
Magic objects, by contrast, can have whatever prerequisites for use that they want. Most of them do not have any restrictions, and the only common restriction is that the user be a spell caster (sometimes of a specific class/classes). Other rare objects could be usable only by an elf or whatever.

Thank you for your time.
As far as I know any spell can be cast by any race. I could be wrong but I've never seen one with a race requirement.

Thank you for the reply. You confirmed my hunch.
