Hello everyone. I am currently running a homebrew campaign with a couple of my friends and one of their characters is an avariel druid. We did not use the UA version of the class since it wasn't out when the character came to be so we used this iteration as basically a standalone race instead https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Avariel_(5e_Race) At the time I didnt really know much about the race but due to the current circumstances in the story at the time I said, sure roll your new character and we'll figure out the rest as we go. So after that session I sat down and read a bit about the race in the Article I posted above and it says, avariel, unless killed outright, die at the very day they turn 1000 years old. I didnt think much of it at the time but now he told me his characters plans for the future if all goes well. As an Archdruid, his aging process should slow down so his now 70ish years old character would live on for another 4000-5000 years. And this is where I'd really appreciate some Input from you guys. I know it's ultimately up to me, how I wanna rule this, but I wondered what other DMs and Players think about this.
Do Avariel Archdruids die at exactly 1000 years as set by the avariel race, or does the slow aging take effect?
I'm not exactly sure the Avariel homebrew you linked die from old age so much as pass on (to one of the celestial planes) for spiritual reasons. Once you and your player discuss that, then you can figure out the rest.
Assuming that it is physical age that they die from, then being a level 18+ druid would extend their remaining lifespan by a factor of 10. If they are only 70 (not 170?) Then they would live for 9300 more years (8300 if they were not still a child at level 18).
Thanks for the input. I guess we'll see how things are going forward. Although, he is faithful to the ravenqueen which might just tip the scales in his favor.
