Does rain count as "running water" when considering a vampire's weakness to it? Does anyone more familiar with vampire lore as a whole know where this weakness comes from and if rain has affected vampires that appear in other tv shows, movies, and books?

I don't remember where I read it, though I think the running water thing was in reference to bodies of moving water: oceans and rivers. While vampires can fly in bat form, they cannot cross water while flying. Similarly, while they have super strength, they cannot enter a residence unless invited in. I think it as something to do with principles of magic, but I cannot say from where.

"Both the Greeks and the Chinese state in their myths that vampires can not cross running water such as a stream or salt water such as an ocean. The vampires could be carried across in a boat or over a bridge and could also cross it at high or low tide."
Rain would not be classified as 'running water'

I dont think it is supposed to, but it may be different depending on DM.
