I have been looking into making a storm sorcerer and leaning super heavily into the theme for a one shot. While looking into Elemental Adept as a feat, I realized there are a bunch of weird edge cases I don't know how to deal with. I am already 99% sure it won't apply to class features that deal elemental damage since they aren't spells, but still, here are my questions:
I know the "treat any 1 on a damage die as a 2" part only applies to one roll of the spell, but what about the "ignore resistance" part? For instance, if I cast Witch Bolt, do each of the subsequent 1d12 damage as an action ignore resistance?
What about when the damage comes from an other player but is technically one of my spells? Like with Dragon's Breath? (assuming I cast it on someone else) Do The first breath attack they make also benefit from the "treat any 1 on a damage die as a 2" part of the feat?

Yes. Witch Bolt as a spell is affected by Elemental Adept so every turn you do damage with it would ignore resistance too. And I believe you would continue to change 1's to 2's because it says "when you roll damage for a spell". It doesn't specify you can only do it once.

I would assume Dragon's Breath counts because you were the one to cast the spell. Elemental Adept does specifically says "spells you cast".
It wouldn't work for other edge cases like Ring of Spell Storing though. Even if you cast a spell into the ring - when cast through the ring it is the player holding the ring that technically casts it in that case.
As for the Dragon's Breath counting 1's as 2's - that would depend on the DM I guess. It says "when you roll damage for a spell" (emphasis mine) but probably in this case it would be the player doing the breath attack rolling because it's their action. Or maybe you do roll for the attack because it's your spell. I honestly don't know about that one.
i've just had the conversation with one of my payers of "what if another person has elemental adept and I cast dragon's breath on them?" we couldn't come to an agreement on it.

The Dragon's Breath wouldn't be affected by it because it's your spell - not theirs.
