Question came up at my table from the Aarakocra Ranger. He wouldn't wear Medium Armor because he said it would not allow him to fly. Would the Mithral mitigate this by default? I homebrewed something to address the issue already, but seeing this, it makes me wonder if he could have just worn some Mithral Medium Armor.
Mithril only does what it says it does - removes disadvantage on stealth and removes the STR requirement.
Houseruling Mithral Armor to count as one armor category lighter (Medium rather than Heavy, Light rather than Medium) is a commonly offered houserule, since it has no real mechanical impact on the majority of Medium Armors otherwise... but it does go beyond the RAW and RAI rules for the item. Do with it what you will, but there's really no shortage of ways to hit the same 17 or 18 AC regardless of what tier of armor you wear (which can go even higher based on class), so overall I don't think Aarakocra require that Mithral be buffed this way.

Nothing more- nothing less.

I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be.
