So, the paladin im working on will mainly use two shields as fighting is the last option she will go to. I decided she would go oath of redemption. What im wondering is if two shields will give me the +2 AC each time or just once.
Backstory in short: Grew up on the streets with her parents in one of the gangs. Was caught but instead of hanged put in the army as a child. She trained with them and eventually got a rank to speak of, but after commanding those under her into a ambush she resigned once her contract was over, she turned to the temples and studied medicine. Now she tries to redeme her past mistakes and save as many as she can.
If both shields are used as improvised weapons, I'd give no AC bonus for the remainder of the round.
If neither are used as weapons, I'd grant partial cover and only one +2 AC. I consider that to be very generous.
If one considers the +2 AC to be an effect, the general RAW claim that the same effect does not stack, but that seems to me to be up to some interpretation.

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
You do not ever get the benefit of two shields by RAW. Crawford and Mearls have confirmed this many times.

You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.
oh thank you ever so kindly for letting me know :D I have no idea who the people you linked are thought but I take it they are part of the ones developing DnD based on the homepage. Thanks once more for letting me know and have a splendid morning/day/evening/night ^^
Happy to help. Crawford & Mearls are the people whom literally wrote the rules for 5e.

As has already been stated, per the rules this isn't allowed. But, if it's a concept you really want to use, you can always work some homebrew rules out with your DM to allow it. There is one creature that does this exact thing, the Fire Giant Dreadnought from Volo's. I had a player that wanted to do this, and my solution was to create a fighting style specifically for the two shields, assigned them a d4 damage dice, and even allowed for an off-hand bonus attack. (Plus since he was a paladin, allowed for a smite in a shield bash) Again, though, completely homebrew and entirely up to your DM.
You don't just have to rely on rulings from the devs, the rules spell it out pretty well too:
Shields. A shield is made from wood or metal and is carried in one hand. Wielding a shield increases your Armor Class by 2. You can benefit from only one shield at a time.
I don't think you should be embarrassed. That was a good question. I think you should approach your DM for some kind of homebrew option.
I can totally see using 2 shields and getting benefits from both. The sacrifice is obviously attacking, but shields can be used as weapons, or at least were sometimes. I've heard the Spartans used the edge of their shields to smash faces.
Get a concept and talk with your DM. I wouldn't worry about what the developers say.
There are many artistic interpretations of the double shield idea and a few games have creatures/characters with double shields. It give a certain amount of visual appeal so I understand your desire. Doesn't mean you can't do it anyway, you just get no additional benefit.

Even this game, in the Fire Giant Dreadnought, which wields two shields as both armor and weapons. It appears that it gets +3 AC from the combined shields (though that is only by comparison with similar giants), and attacks with them as roughly the equivalent a D6 + STR Mod weapon. That could help guide a DM to develop a house rule...
Keep in mind this is the "Rules & Game Mechanics" forum, so we care very much about what the rules actually do. There is a separate forum for homebrew discussion.

regarding this question. I have the same Concept on my paladin. tho its a minotaur paladin, who mainly use his horns to attack. so his left and right hand wields shields. like a Raging Fortress if my DM will allow it. hahaha. pure amor then horns will do the killing,

Not only donning two shields don't give you any additional benefit, it lock both your bands and will require an action to free one to do anything else with it.
Well you still can stack the Magical Abilities For example a +3 Shield with the... Spellward? (the legendary anti spell shield). I was looking at this Website since Tree Kreen exist and My Question has been answered. So now you have the Legendary Spell Protection of the One Shield and the AC (+5) of the other.
