I currently DM a online Session and we heavily use DnD beyond, one of my players is a wizard and are multi classing with a cleric (Don't judge it's what she wanted and it works with her backstory)
Now she is a level 1 Wizard and when she hit level 2 she multi classed to Level 1 Wizard Level 1 Cleric.
When I checked her character sheet on Beyond she was able to have 6 cantrips and hell of alot of spell prepared is this correct or not. Just seemed alot of spell to have access too. I have looked though the books about it but it's not really clear.
If anyone can help me just to clear this up it would be much appreciated.
Cleric and Wizard each get 3 cantrips, so that is correct. She will prepare spells for each class as if she were a single-classed member of that class (so, wizard spells equaling 1 + int. modifier, cleric spells equaling 1 plus wis. modifier). She will have a number of spell slots as shown on the spell slots table in the rules for multiclassing (3 first level spell slots).
Do keep in mind that she can select her spells for Cleric from the entire cleric spell list that corresponds to what a single classed cleric of equal cleric levels could do. Additionally, she will always have the spells prepared that a cleric of her cleric level would have (and they don't count against her prepared spells). Thus a life domain 1st level cleric would always prepare Bless and Cure Wounds, plus the wisdom modifier + cleric level spells.
The wizard spells are prepared from the spells in her wizard spellbook (which should be of a level that a single classed wizard of equal wizard levels could cast).
