I was wondering if there are ways to negate the disadvantage dim light imposes on perception checks based on sight. I know the skulker feat can, and of course throwing some light into the area...but are there any other ways in the game mechanics?
Coming at this from the scenario of looking for traps, which are typically noticed visually (raised plate, thin wire, pit, etc). Darkvision just moves the disadvantage radius. Maybe I should look for something that gives advantage to trap finding?
A warlock's Devil Sight does not exactly give darkvision, instead "You can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 120 feet." This is stronger than darkvision, because it lets you see in darkness as "normal" instead of "as if it were dim light." "Normal" vision would allow for you to have advantage of perception checks, not just offset disadvantage. But RAW, Devil Sight doesn't kick in in dim light, so you'll actually roll perception better in total blackness than you will in dim light.

Besides (or rather in addition to) darkvision?
There's a magic item called Goggles of Night which grants darkvision, or the spell aptly called Darkvision.
Enhance Ability for Owl's Wisdom gives you advantage on perception checks, which negates the disadvantage from dim light and let's you roll normally.
Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
You could always do perception checks that aren't based on sight.

Good luck finding pressure plates and tripwires by sound.

I guess the observant feat sort of handles it since the +5 bonus is the same as the -5 disadvantage penalty to passive perception.

I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be.
You should have no trouble perceiving them by feel.
