If a multiclassed Cleric/Warlock (Pact of the chain) in a resilient sphere spell but the familiar is outside the sphere can and how would combat using the warlocks familiar to deal the touch spell Inflict Wounds work?
My gut says the familiar would never receive the spell to deliver it, since the spell says nothing can move in or out including energy. That said I could see DMs ruling either way since the deliver a touch spell reaction doesn't specify you need a path to the familiar, just that you must be in range.
Well this is an interesting interaction of the rules. This is what I’m currently thinking:
1. Resilient Sphere blocks spell effects, but it doesn’t say it blocks sight (it says nothing can pass through it, which logically should include light without a specific exception, but other similarly worded spells make it clear that you can still see through them, so I’m willing to accept that the writers just haven’t internalized physics well enough).
2. Find Familiar is an instantaneous spell, so everything the spell text says you can do with the familiar after casting can’t be a “spell effect.”
As long as you’re within 100 feet of the familiar, you can see the target, and the familiar can touch the target, I don’t see anything that could prevent it. Nothing about the familiar ability suggests any kind of transfer between the caster and the familiar that the sphere could block (if the familiar were an active spell effect, this would be different). Rather, the familiar is simply able to deliver the spell “as if it had cast the spell.” If it had cast the spell, the sphere wouldn’t have been an issue, which is enough to get around the sphere’s “nor can a creature inside the sphere damage anything outside it“ clause.
Good logic. Being a Cleric and channeling your magic through another creature is like an "I'm not worthy of this honour", or 'hot potato' situation : Your deity channels magic through you, and you channel the same magic through your familiar. An electric current down a wire, if you will:)

Yes, I would too. I think I would allow it in a campaign I was running though, as familiars tend to have low HP and can't typically survive many attack rounds.

Thought exercise on combat with Familiars

That way is clever and allows it, to the point that I agree, I’d be interested to hear what the OP’s DM says

I don't see why it wouldn't work.
