I know that warforged can feel pain, get damaged, and be healed by any means a normal race can, but is there any reason a warforged cannot salvage materials from another warforged to replace lost limbs or eyes (By the way of Detroit: Become Human, Marcus revives scene).
This is mainly for flavor. I would like to play a warforged who can buy modifications for his body. Change his face, or replace an eye if need be, become a franken-monster of parts salvaged from fallen warforged. I am curious if this is possible.
Another option would be the Prosthetic Limb from page 278 of E-RftLW. It would permanently lock away an attunement slot though. I also wondered if it would be possible to attach limbs that weren't originally part of the body with this myself, especially a tail.
Ive always hated this discrepancy between gameplay and lore because lore warforged are so cool and the gameplay actively discourages roleplay in that space. The gameplay rules say that warforged are living creatures, not constructs. Follow the same rules for lost limbs and appearance as any other creature. But the lore on them going back from their first introduction says that once they gained freedom, they began altering their bodies. Some alter themselves for their work. Some take on physical characteristics they like. Some took on male or female forms despite being genderless and that they are often like self contained artificers when it comes to their bodies, tinkering as needed. I think given the time and resources, a warforged PC/NPC should be able to alter any physical characteristic of themselves right down to the con/str/dex scores so long as they dont touch their rune or circulatory system

Up to DM. Attaching a new limb/part might require special magic like regenerate. I would allow changing appearance over time.
