I've made a character here on D&D Beyond and he has a Staff of Striking.
Staff of Striking
This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff that grants a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it.
The staff has 10 charges. When you hit with a melee attack using it, you can expend up to 3 of its charges. For each charge you expend, the target takes an extra 1d6 force damage. The staff regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff becomes a nonmagical quarterstaff.
The character is a Pact of the Blade warlock and I am using this staff as my Pact weapon. The Pact of the Blade makes me proficient, but the quarterstaff is a simple weapon anyway, so warlocks are already proficient.
The warlock is 15th level with a +5 proficiency bonus and a 17 Strength (+3). The staff is a +3 weapon.
The way I see it, my attack bonus should be +11, but the D&D Beyond character sheet says +8.
Seems to be a bug on the staff. I just tried adding one to a character of mine and it doesn't give the bonus etiher. Maybe equip a standard +3 quarterstaff as a place-holder? Or Customize it and add the bonus' in manually.
I think all of the magic staves have some sort of issue like this. I suggest homebrewing it (changing it to a quarterstaff with bonus - magic 3 modifier).

Can anyone help me clarify?
Thanks!

For the record, I figured this out. I wasn't attuned to the item. Once attuned, it calculated correctly.
