I've got a question about the ghostwise halfling's silent speech. Can the creature you're speaking telepathically to speak back? The word "to" is what's interesting to me.
Silent Speech. You can speak telepathically to any creature within 30 feet of you. The creature understands you only if the two of you share a language. You can speak telepathically in this way to one creature at a time.

i would say no...if you have to add or change words in a description to get it to do what you want, you're probably not using it as intended.
Agreed. Compare to other instances of telepathy. The UA feat says "You can communicate telepathically with any creature you can see within 30 feet of you. If it understands at least one language, it can respond to you telepathically." The 8th level spell telepathy says "you and the target can instantaneously share words, images, sounds, and other sensory messages with one another through the link."
No, it is to any "creature", which does include Beasts, but you have to share a language, so that means it will not actually work for the vast majority of Beasts. You may be thinking of the Firbolg "Speech of Beast and Leaf" ability which works like:
You have the ability to communicate in a limited manner with Beasts, Plants, and vegetation. They can understand the meaning of your words, though you have no special ability to understand them in return. You have advantage on all Charisma checks you make to influence them.

Yeah, that's what I think, too. Thanks for your input!
I thought silent speech was to any "beast" or am I mistaken? I was going to use this race for my druid but if it's not beast, is it worth it?

My mistake, I was thinking forest gnome, sorry.
Oh yeah! Forgot about their ability.
