I’m wondering whether anyone can offer some advice on how to role play Umbral Sight for characters who don’t naturally possess Darkvision. I’m not sure how best to represent that at level 3, my human PC has suddenly developed the ability to see in the dark!

Would it be easiest to play a gradual development from the start of the campaign, rather than trying to explain away a sudden change in how his eyeballs work? It would be flavour, rather than a mechanical change, but is the only thing I can think might make sense.

Any advice or opinions on how you might handle this?

Rangers are slightly magical. You could explain it as a result of magical enhancement.
