I am new to the scene. I am trying to learn the rules and grasp how the gameplay goes. I've done some reading already and I am very interested in the game. I've already purchased the starter (Lost Mine of Phandelver) set and read all of chapter 1.
My problem is I has no one to play this with. I would like to get my family into it, but it seems really difficult to go into my first game as a DM and expect my family to be interested too.
If I could at least get into a few sessions to start getting the feel for it it would be great and with the current COVID-19 issue this seems really impossible.
You need to go to the looking for group section. There you can post request to join a game...and even there it may be a while before someone invites you to play.
To be honest to learn to play or DM youtube is a much better resource than these forums.
There are also some great podcasts out there. Critical Role which DNDB sponsored is great and you can learn a lot just listening to how an experienced DM runs a game. Not Another D&D Podcast (NADDPOD) is also great and more whimsical. Between the 2 of those I think it shows a range of DM'ing styles and can maybe inspire or influence how you'd like to run your games.
I second listening to podcasts and I would suggest even the low tech / not so good ones. The big players are there for a reason but you don‘t want to use them as bench mark for your game. My games are always better after a holiday with bad weather when I had time to prepare the sessions. Yesterday I had 30 min after work to get ready !, we still had fun. Sometimes the players do the job !, or the opposite that is the fun of Bering DM
Anyway did PM you so if you need help jus5 get in touch.

Hi,

Can someone help me out with this?
Thanks,

I guess no help here.
