I'm mostly asking if it's possible if someone can cast detect thoughts on a familiar to read the thoughts of its master if the master is seeing through that familiar? The saving throw would be using the master's stats rather than the familiar's. I'm not sure if that is entirely legal or possible and i wanted to make sure.
In the find familiar spell it doesn’t say anything about the casters mind being in the creature it just says you can use the creatures senses. Maybe you could read the familiars thoughts to learn about a command it has been given, but you would not know the casters thoughts unless you target them.

I don't think so, familiars have minds of their own. They obey the casters' commands but there's no mind-meld as far as I can tell.
