You have advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated.
i just want to make sure it works for spells and not just weapon attacks.
If it's an attack and it needs a d20+ability score modifier roll it's an attack roll.
Outside of maybe some weird spells I could be forgetting every d20+ability score modifier roll is always either an attack roll, saving throw or ability check.
Attack rolls and saving throws are generally easy to figure out, and anything else is considered an ability check
Yes. The target would benefit from cover, but get advantage on the roll. Kind of like with the thieves ranged sneak attack into an ally's melee. An ally is within 5 feet of the target.
Pack tactics designates that it must be an attack, so anything that has you “make an attack” whether it be a weapon attack or spell attack will work.
And an attack is when you roll a d20 and add your relevant “to-hit” bonus.
It's worth mentioning that if you make a ranged weapon or ranged spell attack roll, it will be a normal roll if you have an enemy within 5 ft. The disadvantage of range rolls at melee range and advantage of Pack Tactics cancel each other out.

I can only recall 1 spell it won't work with and that's Magic Missile as there's no Attack Roll.
magic missile isn't a spell attack just like saving throw spells aren't spell attacks. If it was an attack, there would be an attack roll.
