I remember from the 2nd edition Ravenloft campaign setting a section about reshaping characters when they enter the mist. I can't seem to find that for 5th ed. Was it changed? I'm particularly interested on what will happen to Clerics and Warlocks when they enter the mist (from another setting). What happens to the connection to their deity/patron? Also, if this information was updated for 5th ed, where can i find it?
Thanks for the replies. I might tinker around homebrewing some aspects of the 2nd ed to my 5th ed campaign. I loved that idea that Ravenloft actually changes you and entice you to become part of its domain if you are not careful.

Nothing when you enter- there’s optional ‘dark gifts’ that alter you if you die and the mists Rez you. It pwyw on dmsguild.
there’s also a few spells that change visually.
nothing on the connection-other than it’s really distant....like a bad phone connection.

Also, if you try to place a call to your patron, Strahd might pick up instead, usually impersonating the one you were calling.

The things that change noticeably are spells and their special effects.
